President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed greetings to the leadership, Government and people of the People’s Republic of China on the occasion of the Chinese New Year.

In a message shared on X, the President extended heartfelt wishes to President Xi Jinping and Premier of the State Council Li Qiang, as well as to the Government and the friendly people of China.

The President noted that the ambition, grit and success symbolised by the Year of the Fire Horse reflect the remarkable development China has achieved over the years. He stated that there is much to celebrate and be thankful for in this symbolic year, expressing hope for even brighter days ahead for the Chinese people.

President Dr Muizzu also highlighted the long-standing ties of friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and China. He expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to flourish for the common benefit of both countries and their peoples.

China remains one of the Maldives’ key development partners, with cooperation spanning infrastructure, trade and tourism.
