President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday delivered a powerful message highlighting the interconnectedness of human rights and the Maldives’ steadfast commitment to equality, dignity, and justice on the occasion of the Human Rights Day.
This year’s theme, “Our Rights. Our Future. Right Now.," aligns with the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), a landmark document underscoring the universal nature of freedom and equality.
In a statement shared on his official X account, President Dr Muizzu emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in protecting rights, noting that standing up for the freedoms of others is essential to safeguarding our own.
He reaffirmed his Administration’s dedication to fostering a peaceful and inclusive society through policies tailored to the Maldives' unique geography.
The President outlined key areas of focus, including equitable access to healthcare, education, and justice. He also emphasised the importance of press freedom, workers' rights, gender equality, and environmental sustainability, underscoring their significance for future generations.
As the Maldives commemorates Human Rights Day, the Administration continues to prioritise the enactment of laws and policies that uphold these principles.
