President Dr Mohamed Muizzu awarded the President’s Cup 2026 championship trophy and medals to Odi Sports Club during the closing ceremony at Galolhu National Stadium on 24 February.
The final between defending champions Maziya Sports & Recreation and Odi Sports Club ended 1–1 at full time, with Odi securing the title 6–5 on penalties. It marked the first time since 2012 that a President’s Cup final was decided by a shootout.
The win was a historic milestone for Odi Sports Club, who are competing in the Maldivian First Division League for the first time this season. Odi reached the final after defeating Buru Sports Club 2–0 in the semi-finals, while Maziya advanced by edging New Radiant Sports Club 6–5 on penalties following a 2–2 draw.
Maziya, who first won the President’s Cup in 2015, were appearing in their third consecutive final and were seeking a third title. Their defeat ended the club’s title defence, while Odi claimed their first President’s Cup trophy in their debut top-flight campaign.
Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu and other senior officials were also in attendance at the final match. First held in 1946, the President’s Cup is one of the country’s longest-running national football tournaments.
