President Dr Mohamed Muizzu acknowledged the assistance provided through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development towards development projects in the Maldives, stating that the long-standing partnership holds strong potential for further expansion based on mutual trust and shared values.

In a message celebrating Kuwait’s National Day on 25 February and Liberation Day on 26 February, President Dr Muizzu extended greetings to the Amir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, as well as to the Government and people of Kuwait.

The President noted the progress achieved by Kuwait and said the two occasions reflected the country’s development journey. He conveyed wishes for continued peace and prosperity for Kuwait and its people.

President Dr Muizzu said cooperation between the Maldives and Kuwait, particularly through development assistance provided by the Kuwait Fund, has contributed to socio-economic initiatives in the Maldives over the years. He added that enhanced cooperation and sustained engagement could further expand development gains for both countries in the coming years.

Kuwait’s National Day commemorates the country’s independence, while Liberation Day marks the end of the Iraqi occupation in 1991.
