Government urges Maldivians in Middle East to prioritise safety amid escalating conflict

The Government has urged all Maldivian nationals residing in or travelling to the Middle East to prioritise their safety, following the outbreak of hostilities in the region today.

In a statement issued in response to the escalating situation, authorities appealed to Maldivians living in affected countries, particularly those in areas currently being targeted, to remain indoors as much as possible and avoid unnecessary movement. They were also advised to strictly follow safety instructions and guidance issued by the respective governments of the countries in which they reside.

The Government confirmed that it is closely monitoring the situation of Maldivians currently in the region through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Maldivian embassies based in the Middle East. It added that arrangements are in place to provide consular assistance where required.

Maldivians in the affected region have been strongly encouraged to register at the nearest Embassy of the Maldives at the earliest opportunity, in order to facilitate assistance if necessary.

The Government reiterated its appeal for vigilance and urged all Maldivians in the region to remain in close contact with the relevant authorities during this period of heightened tension.
