Visit Maldives Corporation has begun promoting the Maldives at ITB Berlin 2026, being held from 3–5 March at Messe Berlin, in efforts to strengthen the destination’s presence in international tourism markets ahead of Visit Maldives Year 2027.
A total of 67 tourism industry partners are participating alongside Visit Maldives at the exhibition, presenting a collective national presence at one of the world’s largest travel trade platforms. The Maldives pavilion, operating under the destination brand “Maldives… The Sunny Side of Life,” is showcasing a range of tourism offerings including luxury resorts, guesthouses, liveaboards, wellness experiences, family-oriented travel and sustainability-focused tourism products.
In addition to exhibition activities, Visit Maldives has organised a series of engagements with international travel trade partners and media during the event. These include the return of Maldivian Night, a networking event bringing together European tour operators, airline partners, travel industry representatives and media. Maldivian cuisine is also being featured as part of the destination’s cultural promotion, with traditional dishes presented both at the Maldives pavilion and during the networking event.
The event is being organised in collaboration with Bank of Maldives, which is introducing BML Swipe, a digital payment service aimed at facilitating payment transactions for visitors across the islands.
Visit Maldives is also scheduled to hold an international press conference during the fair, where officials are expected to announce new initiatives related to the Maldives’ tourism development strategy as the country prepares for Visit Maldives Year 2027.
Europe remains a key source market for Maldivian tourism, with Germany continuing to rank among the leading contributors, while Switzerland and Austria also maintain strong visitor numbers. Tourism promotion efforts in these markets focus on travel segments such as diving, wellness tourism, family travel and sustainability-focused experiences.
Participation in ITB Berlin provides an opportunity for Maldivian tourism stakeholders to engage with international partners and strengthen the destination’s visibility in the global travel market.
