The Government has completed the distribution of Roadha Hadhiyaa to households across the Maldives ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, with 113,382 households receiving tuna cases this year.

Speaking at a press conference held at the President’s Office, Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar said the distribution was carried out in line with a pledge made by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

According to the minister, a total of 55,667 cases of canned fish were distributed to households in the Greater Malé Region, while 57,715 cases were sent to households in the atolls, bringing the nationwide total to 113,382 households. Each household received 48 cans of fish as part of the Government’s Roadha Hadhiyaa programme.

The minister noted that 60,712 households in the atolls received the assistance last year, compared to 57,715 households this year, representing a decrease of 2,997 households. In contrast, the number of households receiving the assistance in the Greater Malé Region increased by 5,142, rising from 50,525 households last year to 55,667 households this year.

Overall, 111,237 households received Roadha Hadhiyaa in 1446, while 113,382 households were covered this year, marking an increase of 2,145 households.

Minister Adam Shareef said the lists of households in the atolls were compiled by local council offices, while households in the Greater Malé Region were identified based on domestic electricity meters registered with STELCO. The minister added that the distribution programme began on 24 January, with assistance delivered to households across the country ahead of Ramadan.
