Maldives and Türkiye discuss strengthening cooperation across key sectors

The Maldives and Türkiye have held discussions aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations across various sectors.
The talks took place during a meeting between the Maldives’ Ambassador to Türkiye, Lieutenant General (Retired) Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef, and Fuad Oktay, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.
The meeting was held at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye in Ankara.
During the meeting, Ambassador Abdul Raheem expressed appreciation for the support and close cooperation extended by the Turkish government to the Maldives. He also highlighted the progress made in relations between the two countries following the establishment of the Maldivian Embassy in Türkiye in 2024.
The ambassador further emphasised the important role played by parliamentary cooperation in advancing matters of mutual interest between the two countries. He also thanked the Turkish Government for the assistance provided to the Maldives across various sectors.
In response, Fuad Oktay welcomed the Maldivian ambassador and discussed opportunities for Türkiye to extend further support to strengthen cooperation with the Maldives in different areas.
