President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has urged the public to elect candidates who will cooperate with the Government to complete ongoing initiatives.

He made the appeal while speaking at the closing event of a cycle ride organised in Malé today by the People’s National Congress (PNC). The President called on voters to elect PNC candidates contesting seats in city and island councils and Women’s Development Committees in the upcoming council elections.

President Dr Muizzu said the 4 April vote requires the support of all citizens. He emphasised that weakening councils and allowing the central Government alone to manage affairs was not an approach he supported, noting that development in islands and cities should progress through the decentralised council system.

He added that electing candidates who cooperate within councils would help deliver positive outcomes and allow the Government to complete its pledges despite economic challenges inherited by the Administration.

The cycle ride was organised to strengthen PNC’s election campaign and convey its message to the public. Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef, Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla, party leaders, ministers, Members of Parliament, and many supporters took part in the event.
