Eid al-Fitr prayers were held in large congregations across the Maldives this morning, with prayers taking place at 7:00 a.m.

As in previous years, the main Eid congregations in the Greater Malé area were held at four locations: Maafannu Stadium, the Villimalé football ground, the Hulhumalé Phase I synthetic track, and the open area near Masjid Hassan Adam in Hulhumalé Phase II. Young Khateebs led the prayers at the principal congregations in Malé and Villimalé.

Large numbers of men, women and children gathered for the prayers in Malé. President Dr Mohamed Muizzu also joined worshippers for the Eid prayer in the capital.

Across the country, Eid prayers were similarly held in large congregations in major islands and cities, while smaller communities conducted prayers in local mosques.

Following the morning prayers, Eid celebrations and activities began nationwide, marking the start of the festive period.
