President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has called for the timely implementation of the Affordable Housing Project in Hulhumalé Phase II during a visit to the project site operated by China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC).

The visit took place following the groundbreaking ceremony for 1,224 housing units held the previous day, a project financed by the Bank of Maldives (BML) as part of the Government’s broader housing initiative.

During the site inspection, the President was briefed on preparations underway to commence construction and emphasised the need to proceed without delays. In response, CMEC officials assured that the project remains on track for completion within the planned timeframe.

The housing development forms a key component of the Government’s efforts to expand access to affordable housing, particularly in the Greater Malé Region. The President was accompanied during the visit by Cabinet ministers, senior officials from BML, representatives of CMEC, and heads of relevant State-owned enterprises.
