The Maldives Media and Broadcasting Commission (MMBC) has urged media outlets to report responsibly on developments related to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Commission highlighted the need for caution when disseminating news and information during what it described as a sensitive period marked by heightened global tensions.

The MMBC called on media organisations to ensure that all information shared with the public adheres to established professional standards. It also stressed the importance of presenting content from multiple sources in a balanced manner, without distorting context.

The Commission further warned against the use of manipulated or fabricated photos, audio, and video content, particularly material that could mislead the public or incite hatred.

Media institutions were also reminded of their responsibility to uphold professional ethics and accountability in their reporting.
