More than 9,500 applications have been submitted for Government housing schemes launched under the national housing policy, the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure said.

The ministry said a total of 9,645 applications have been received so far, with the majority of applicants applying for flats. Of these, 5,993 applications were submitted for flats, while 3,234 applications were for land plots, indicating strong demand across both categories.

A total of 9,227 applications were submitted under the family housing programme, while 418 applications were received under a separate category that allows individuals to apply even if their spouse owns a residence.

The ministry also noted that 13,279 applications remain in draft form on the housing portal, reflecting continued interest in the schemes as submission deadlines approach.

Two additional programmes are scheduled to open on April 1, including new categories under the “Housing for All” initiative and a special category for persons with disabilities, while applications for all currently open schemes will remain open until the end of April through the housing portal for both Malé City residents and individuals from other islands residing in the capital.
