People’s National Congress (PNC)’s Malé City mayoral candidate Major (Rtd) Moosa Ali Jaleel has said that addressing housing and land constraints remains the most pressing issue facing residents, pledging to work at the forefront of efforts to resolve the challenges.
Speaking at the PNC rally, Jaleel said he is committed to delivering practical solutions to the housing crisis, noting that his priority is to ensure access to land and housing for residents across the city.
He highlighted ongoing large-scale land reclamation projects in the Greater Malé region, including developments in Rasmalé, stating that such initiatives are creating new opportunities for land allocation and housing, while describing the current period as a transformative phase in urban development.
Jaleel said he intends to work closely with the Government to translate these developments into tangible housing solutions, noting that the administration’s strategic plans place strong emphasis on addressing housing needs in Malé City.
He also emphasised the role of the Malé City Council in supporting the implementation of housing policies, stating that the council must work actively and responsibly to address the concerns of residents and improve living conditions across the capital.
