Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar has stated that the Government will work with newly elected local councils and Women’s Development Committees (WDCs) without discrimination.

In a post shared on X following Saturday’s nationwide polls, the Minister congratulated all elected members and expressed hope that the new councils would work closely with communities to enhance public participation and engagement.

He said the Ministry remains committed to working with all councils equally, regardless of political affiliation, to support their functions and responsibilities. The Minister also noted that the newly elected councils are expected to revitalise the decentralisation system and strengthening local governance.
