The People’s National Congress (PNC) secured all seats in Raa Fainu in Saturday’s Local Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections, with the party winning across both governance bodies on the island.

Results show Mohamed Sameer was elected President of the Fainu Council with 210 votes, while Abdul Rauf Abdul Rahman secured the remaining elected seat with 194 votes, defeating Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate Hassan Waheed, who received 131 votes. The women’s reserved seat on the council was secured uncontested by a PNC candidate.

The party also secured all positions in the WDC, with Aminath Zidhuna elected as President, alongside Sara Ibrahim and Hafeeza Ibrahim Manik as members, completing a full sweep of seats in both the council and the committee.
