Member of Parliament Ibrahim Shujau has stated that there will be no delay in fulfilling the pledges made by Dr Mohamed Muizzu, despite the conclusion of the Local Council and Women’s Development Committee elections.
MP Shujau made the remarks in response to claims raised during the election period that the President would scale back public engagements and fail to deliver on commitments once the polls concluded. He said ongoing Government projects demonstrate that implementation efforts are continuing as planned.
As an example, he pointed to the commencement of a land reclamation project in Gaadhiffushi, which began on Thursday. He said the project reflects the President’s continued focus on delivering on pledges made to the public.
“Maldivians are now witnessing positive developments. With the repayment of large loans taken by the previous Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Government, the country is entering a more stable and promising period,” Shujau said.
The Gaadhiffushi land reclamation project involves reclaiming 11 hectares of land, with an estimated 396,000 cubic metres of sand required for completion.
President Dr Muizzu has stated that the reclamation of the 11-hectare area is expected to be completed within 10 days.
