The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development has opened applications for a fully funded TVET teacher training scholarship programme, with all expenses to be covered by the Government.
The opportunity includes seven diploma programmes and three degree courses aimed at developing skills and capacity in technical and vocational education.
The diploma programmes offered are in manufacturing engineering, civil engineering, mechatronics, air conditioning and refrigeration, information technology, carpentry technology, and graphic design. Degree programmes include automotive engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, and marine engineering technology.
The Ministry stated that all programme costs will be fully funded, and recipients will be required to serve at the Maldives Polytechnic for a period determined based on the duration of their course.
All courses are required to be conducted in English, and selected candidates must commence their studies within 12 months of securing placement.
The programmes are offered across institutions in 24 countries. Eligibility is open to applicants who meet the minimum entry requirements outlined under the Maldives National Qualifications Framework (MNQF) by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.
The Ministry also noted that applications must be submitted through its recently launched Kuri portal, which has been introduced to streamline the application process.
Applications for the courses must be submitted by 1:30 p.m. on 26 April 2026.
