The Elections Commission of Maldives has announced that 14 ballot boxes will be placed for the second round of voting in the Local Council elections and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections scheduled for Saturday.

The ballot boxes will be distributed across constituencies proceeding to a run-off, as well as in Malé. Two ballot boxes will be placed in each of Kelaa, Maavah, and the Dhadimagu district of Fuvahmulah City, while one ballot box each will be stationed in Neykurendhoo and Dhonfan.

In Malé, six ballot boxes will be made available for voters registered in these constituencies. Ballot boxes designated for voters from Kelaa and Dhonfan will be located at Thaajuddeen School. Voters from Neykurendhoo and Maavah will be able to cast their ballots at Hiriya School, while voters from Fuvahmulah’s Dhadimagu district will vote at Dharumavantha School.

The second round is being held in line with the Local Council Elections Act and the 2026 regulations governing Local Council and WDC elections, following tied results among candidates exceeding the number of available seats.

Run-off voting will take place for a women’s reserved seat in Baa Dhonfan Council and for the women’s reserved seat in Fuvahmulah City’s Dhadimagu constituency. Additional run-offs will also be held for the position of WDC President in Haa Alifu Kelaa, as well as for WDC member positions in Haa Dhaalu Neykurendhoo and Laamu Maavah.

Voting will take place on Saturday, 18 April 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with official results expected to be announced on Sunday, 19 April 2026.
