Audit finds Attorney General’s Office financial records compliant with law

A compliance audit conducted by the Auditor General’s Office has found that the financial records of the Attorney General’s Office for 2024 were maintained in accordance with the Public Finance Act.
The audit report stated that no discrepancies were identified between figures recorded in the approved budget statements for the financial year ending 31 December 2024 and those maintained in the Public Accounting System.
It further noted that expenditure incurred during the year remained within the approved budget and complied with the Public Finance Act as well as Government financial regulations.
The report also confirmed that the overall financial operations of the Attorney General’s Office in 2024 were carried out in line with applicable laws and regulatory requirements governing public finances.
A total budget of MVR 44.1 million had been approved for the Office for the year. By the end of 2024, total expenditure stood at MVR 34.8 million.
Of this amount, MVR 19.3 million was spent on staff-related expenses, while MVR 10.2 million was allocated to administrative and operational costs.
