President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s proposed Cabinet changes have been sent to a parliamentary committee of the People’s Majlis for review.
The proposed changes, which include the reconstitution of ministerial mandates and the reorganisation of Government institutions, were referred today to the relevant committee for review and approval of 14 ministers.
These changes follow the resignation of 10 ministers who had previously served in the Cabinet. Their resignations were made to facilitate the implementation of planned reforms and allow for adjustments to the structure and functioning of the Government.
As part of the reconstitution, several ministries have been merged, some existing ministries have been dissolved, and the mandates of ministries have been revised.
Following the changes, a total of 14 ministers, including both former Cabinet members and new appointees, have been sworn in.
The names of the ministers submitted for parliamentary approval are:
The committee will review the candidates and present its recommendations to the Majlis floor, where final approval will be decided through a vote.
