First Lady Sajidha Mohamed inaugurated the “Huraa Ekuveri Hiyaa,” a new community centre in Huraa, during her official visit on Saturday.

The event was marked by a warm reception from the island’s residents.

During the opening ceremony, the First Lady emphasised the significance of community bonds and interpersonal connections. She expressed hope that the Hiyaa would serve as a space to strengthen relationships among Huraa’s residents.

In her address, the First Lady reflected on the modern digital age, noting that while virtual interactions have become commonplace, in-person connections remain vital for fostering a deeper sense of community and mutual understanding. She described the Hiyaa as a vital resource for achieving these goals.

Following the formal opening, the First Lady toured the facility and engaged with residents.
