Vendors have been invited to register on the SME Digital platform, representing the first time such an opportunity has been made available to suppliers of all types of goods and services.

In a statement, SME Digital confirmed that registration is now open to any individual or business wishing to supply products or services through the platform. The initiative is aimed at expanding the pool of vendors available to applicants seeking financing through SME Digital, thereby improving access to goods and services.

The platform noted that interested parties can complete a vendor registration form to enrol and begin offering their services. Vendors from across the Maldives have already registered, signalling growing engagement with the platform.

SME Digital added that formal registration will help address challenges such as difficulties in accessing financing and issues related to the non-delivery of goods and services. By streamlining vendor participation, the platform aims to ensure greater reliability and transparency in transactions.

Previously, Managing Director Baduruddin Hassan stated that the company’s goal extends beyond merely providing financing. Instead, SME Digital seeks to position itself as an institution that actively supports small businesses at every stage of their development.

Through accessible small-scale financing opportunities, the platform has enabled new ideas to evolve into income-generating ventures. These opportunities have particularly benefited young people, freelancers, and individuals working from home.

In addition, SME Digital has introduced specialised financing schemes designed to promote the economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs, further strengthening financial inclusion across the country.
