The Government is exploring the introduction of criminal measures to address bullying, amid growing concerns over incidents reported in schools and communities.

Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology Ali Ihusaan said discussions are underway with the Attorney General’s Office to determine what legal and criminal actions can be taken, including whether existing laws allow for prosecution in such cases.

Speaking at a press conference at the President’s Office, Minister Ihusaan said incidents of bullying have led to serious outcomes in some parts of the country, adding that the Government is reviewing options to strengthen legal frameworks to prevent such conduct.

He noted that the Administration is prepared to introduce legislative amendments if necessary, emphasising that stronger measures will be taken to ensure accountability and address harassment and related behaviour.
