President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the Maamigili Hospital project will commence within the year, addressing a key concern raised by the Maamigili Island Council .

The President made the announcement at a meeting with the Council and the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) to discuss various development priorities for the island.

At the meeting, held at the Secretariat of the Dhan’gethi Island Council, council members expressed the urgent need for a hospital, harbour, and road development projects that align with the island community's goals. They also stressed the necessity for a new building to house the island’s police station.

In addition, members of the WDC inquired about the status of allowances allocated for their committee, highlighting the need for clarity on funding.
