Parliament committee approves nominations for reconstituted Cabinet

Parliament committee of the People’s Majlis has approved the Cabinet changes proposed by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

The proposals, which include the reconstitution of ministerial mandates and the reorganisation of Government institutions, were submitted to the relevant committee for review, covering the appointment of 14 ministers.

The changes follow the resignation of 10 ministers who stepped down to facilitate planned reforms and allow adjustments to the structure and functioning of the Government.

Under the reconstitution, several ministries have been merged, others dissolved, and mandates revised to reflect the new administrative framework.

Following the restructuring, a total of 14 ministers, comprising both former Cabinet members and new appointees, have been sworn in.

The ministers submitted for parliamentary approval are:

  • Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises: Moosa Zameer
  • Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology: Ali Ihusaan
  • Minister of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development: Dr Ismail Shafeeu
  • Minister of Health, Family and Welfare: Geela Ali
  • Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Transport: Mohamed Saeed
  • Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments: Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed
  • Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation: Mohamed Ameen
  • Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness: Abdulla Rafiu
  • Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage: Heena Waleed
  • Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development: Dr Abdulla Muththalib
  • Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy: Ali Shareef
  • Minister of Defence and National Security: Hassan Rasheed
  • Minister of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources: Ahmed Shiyam
