Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has urged for more responsible and ethical journalism.

In a post shared on his official X account, the Vice President called on journalists to be more responsible in disseminating information and to remain committed to the core principles of journalism.

He said ethical journalism must ensure the delivery of quality information, promote accountability and transparency, and uphold the principles of democracy.

In addition, the Vice President added that when ethical standards are not maintained, it can lead to misinformation, increase harm, and create unrest among people who rely on journalists to report news accurately.

The Vice President’s remarks follow a response by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to a journalist during a press briefing on Monday, where he rejected allegations made against him in a documentary and said legal action would be pursued.
