The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has announced that the Maldives Financial Expo will be held from July 2 to 4 at Hulhumalé Central Park.

MMA said the expo aims to raise public awareness on financial matters while providing a platform for financial service providers to engage with the public and showcase their services. The event is expected to bring together key institutions under one roof to promote financial literacy and sector development.

The authority noted that similar expos held in 2015 and 2017 received strong public response, with this year’s edition expected to introduce new services and programmes by participating institutions.

In addition to the expo, the MMA will also host the Maldives Financial Sector Awards, recognising outstanding contributions by financial institutions towards the development of the sector. A total of seven awards will be presented, with focus areas including financial inclusion, digital finance, support for small and medium enterprises, and green finance initiatives.

Applications for the awards are now open to eligible institutions, with winners to be announced at a ceremony scheduled for July 1. The MMA stated that the initiative is part of efforts to strengthen the financial system and enhance the quality and accessibility of financial services in the Maldives.
