First Lady Sajidha Mohamed participated in the SIFAMA Fun Run 2026 organised by the Family Association of the Maldives National Defence Force in celebration of National Children’s Day and Mother’s Day.

The event was held at the Hulhumalé Synthetic Track and attracted 1,050 participants, marking a significant increase from the 400 runners who took part in last year’s inaugural edition. According to MNDF, the growing participation reflects the positive public response received following the introduction of the initiative last year.

MNDF stated that the Fun Run was initially organised exclusively for families of MNDF personnel. However, due to the success of the first edition, this year’s event was expanded to include public participation. Authorities also noted that it was an honour for the First Lady to take part in this year’s programme.

The event featured two races held across the day, with the 10-kilometre run conducted in the morning and the 5-kilometre run taking place in the evening. The programme formed part of efforts to promote family engagement, healthy lifestyles and community participation.

SIFAMA is a registered civil society organisation established to support MNDF personnel and their families. The association comprises families and close members connected to the military community and works to strengthen social support and unity among MNDF families.
