Shamhooza Ahmed has been dismissed from her position as Chairperson of Male' Water and Sewerage Company.

In a statement, the Privatization and Corporatization Board confirmed that Shamhooza was removed from both her role as Chairperson and her seat on the company’s board with immediate effect. No reason was provided for the decision.

Shamhooza was appointed Chairperson of MWSC on January 16, 2024. Prior to joining the company, she served as council executive of the Malé City Council and had also worked as a director at the Housing Ministry.

Her dismissal comes amid ongoing changes to the leadership of several state-owned enterprises.
