Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has completed departure operations for Maldivian pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage of 1447 AH, through Velana International Airport (VIA).
MACL said the operation was carried out under a coordinated airport facilitation framework, in collaboration with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, the Maldives Hajj Corporation, airlines, and other relevant authorities. The arrangements were designed to ensure that pilgrims completed their departure formalities in an organised, comfortable, and dignified manner.
Throughout the Hajj departure period, MACL deployed management and frontline teams from several departments, including Passenger Services, Terminal Services, and Estate Security Services, to assist with passenger flow, terminal coordination, and support services.
Special facilities were also put in place for pilgrims and their families, including dedicated waiting areas at the former Domestic Terminal, Friday prayer arrangements at the Waterfront Building, drinking water services, and ablution facilities.
MACL expressed its gratitude to all Government institutions, partner agencies, airlines, and staff involved in the operation, noting that the successful conclusion of this year's Hajj departures reflects the company's ongoing commitment to delivering safe and seamless airport services.
