Dr Mahid Shareef appointed to lead Citizens’ Complaints Bureau

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Dr Mohamed Mahid Shareef as Principal Secretary to the President at the Citizens’ Complaints Bureau under the President’s Office.

Dr Mahid was appointed to the post on 18 May 2026. He previously served as Permanent Secretary at several ministries and as Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic University of Maldives. Prior to the appointment, he was serving as Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives.

He holds a Doctor of Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Public Sector Management.

The Citizens’ Complaints Bureau was announced by President Dr Muizzu during the Presidential Address 2026 as part of efforts to strengthen the Government’s response to public concerns.

Operating under the President’s Office, the bureau will function around the clock and oversee the handling of public complaints through a digital system designed to track and address grievances submitted through various channels. The bureau will also coordinate with relevant Government agencies and establish a 24-hour call centre.
