The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has issued a sea travel advisory amid worsening weather conditions forecast across parts of the country.

In a post shared on social media, MPS urged the public to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts and avoid unnecessary sea travel during adverse conditions.

MPS also advised vessel operators not to carry more passengers than the approved capacity and to ensure all required safety measures are completed before departure. Travellers were further urged to wear life jackets at all times and ensure emergency contact numbers are clearly displayed on vessels.

The advisory follows a weather warning issued by the Maldives Meteorological Service (MET), which has also issued a Yellow Alert from Baa Atoll to Alifu Dhaalu Atoll from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
