Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef departed for Germany on Monday evening to serve as a keynote speaker at the Berlin Climate Mobility Forum 2026.

The forum, scheduled to take place in Berlin from June 18 to 19, will bring together heads of state, senior government officials, representatives of communities most affected by climate change and youth innovators working on local solutions.

The high-level international gathering aims to address the challenges associated with climate-induced mobility and advance discussions on adaptation strategies in response to the impacts of climate change.

A key outcome of this year's forum will be the formal adoption of the Global Climate Mobility Principles, a high-level agreement aimed at supporting adaptation pathways that protect people's right to remain in their communities while ensuring that relocation, when necessary, is carried out with dignity.

The forum will also provide an opportunity to develop a roadmap for translating these commitments into practical partnerships and coordinated action.

During the visit, Vice President is scheduled to deliver an opening statement during the High-Level Segment on the Climate Mobility Principles and participate in a high-level panel discussion focusing on protecting rights in the face of rising sea levels.
