President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated his Administration’s commitment to advancing development projects in Noonu Landhoo, assuring residents that several key initiatives will continue throughout the year.
Speaking to the local community, the President highlighted that work had already begun on upgrading Landhoo’s health centre into a 24-hour facility, with preparations underway to ensure adequate staffing and resources. He also confirmed that a new fitness and recreation centre, alongside additional sports facilities, would be developed to support community wellbeing.
Addressing environmental concerns, President Dr Muizzu said efforts were ongoing to preserve areas of the island affected by erosion, particularly the section of beach commonly used for swimming. He noted that the project had been divided into six phases, with a seventh phase set to commence in September and physical work scheduled for November.
The President announced further progress on educational infrastructure, with construction of the island’s school ongoing and plans to expand the facility with additional resources and space. He also confirmed that an ice plant and a new water supply system, funded through foreign investment, would be completed before year-end.
Concluding his remarks, President Dr Muizzu expressed confidence that his Government would deliver on its pledges and voiced his hope to return to Landhoo to celebrate the successful completion of these projects.
