Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) and the Maldives National Skills Development Authority (MNSDA) have signed a collaborative agreement to implement the National Apprentice Programmes and the National Trade Testing and Certification (NTTC) system.
The agreement was formalised on 22 July 2025 at a ceremony held at the MNSDA office. Chief Learning and Development Officer Aishath Shimla signed on behalf of MPL, while CEO Zahra Mohammed represented MNSDA.
Under the agreement, MNSDA will be responsible for ensuring quality assurance of the National Apprentice Programmes and NTTC initiatives conducted by MPL’s Port Training Centre (PTC). The authority will also provide technical support to facilitate the successful implementation of these programmes.
MPL’s Port Training Centre conducts a wide range of educational and training programmes for employees annually. Additionally, the centre runs internship and apprenticeship schemes designed to introduce young people to careers in the maritime sector.
