Formal ceremonial welcome held for Prime Minister Modi in Malé

Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, was given a formal ceremonial welcome in the Maldives on Friday afternoon during his first official visit to the country since securing a third term in office.
The welcoming ceremony was held at Republic Square, where President Dr Mohamed Muizzu officially greeted the visiting leader. The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) honoured Prime Minister Modi with a 21-gun salute, while students from Aminiya School performed a cultural display. The national anthems of both nations were played, followed by a Guard of Honour and the introduction of key officials from both delegations.
Prime Minister Modi arrived in Malé earlier in the day for a visit focused on strengthening ties between the two nations.
President Dr Muizzu and Prime Minister Modi are set to hold high-level talks aimed at enhancing cooperation across a wide range of sectors. They will also witness the signing of several Memorandas of Understanding and agreements.
