President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended his condolences to the people of Sri Lanka following extreme weather that has caused widespread devastation in the country.

In a message posted on his official X account, President Dr Muizzu said he was deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives, as well as the damage and destruction caused by the severe weather. He said the people of the Maldives stand in full solidarity with Sri Lanka during this time of grief.

Sri Lanka has been hit by heavy rains this week, triggering floods and landslides in several regions. The severe conditions have caused significant destruction and are being described as one of the worst weather-related disasters the country has faced in recent years.
