The Maldives and Sri Lanka have signed a series of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering multiple areas of cooperation during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s State Visit.

The agreements were formalised on Monday at a ceremony held at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo, in the presence of President Dr Muizzu and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayaka.

A total of seven MoUs were exchanged, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. The agreements span sectors including youth development, archiving, tourism, prevention of violent extremism, academic cooperation in the defence and health sectors, as well as training and professional development for school teachers.

The visit comes following President Disanayaka’s State Visit to the Maldives from 28 to 30 July 2025, as both countries continue efforts to expand cooperation across key areas.
