Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has opened its outlet outside the Greater Malé region in Addu City.

The outlet, located in Hithadhoo, was officially inaugurated by Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness Abdulla Rafiu.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, MIFCO Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mohamed Anas said Addu City has longstanding ties with both the Maldivian fisheries industry and MIFCO. He described the opening of the company’s first retail outlet outside the Greater Malé area as an important step in expanding access to fisheries products in the atolls.

According to MIFCO, the outlet will support the expansion of local production through the Addu Fisheries Complex established in Hulhudhoo, while improving access to MIFCO products for residents of Addu City at affordable prices.

During the ceremony, the company’s CEO also acknowledged the government’s support towards the fisheries sector and MIFCO’s development, while expressing appreciation to President Mohamed Muizzu and Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam for ongoing support provided to the industry.

The fish shop is located on Link Road near the ice plant operated by MIFCO in Hithadhoo. According to the company, MIFCO products became available for sale at the outlet from Sunday evening.
