The Maldivian Hajj Mission has stated that all Maldivian pilgrims, except one pilgrim currently receiving medical treatment, have arrived in Arafat to perform the central rites of Hajj.
Islamic Affairs Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said the remaining pilgrim was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mina and arrangements were being made to transfer the individual to Arafat with assistance from the Hajj Corporation.
According to the Hajj Mission, Maldivian pilgrims departed from Mina at around 11:00 p.m. local time, with 22 buses arranged to transport pilgrims to Arafat. The final group reportedly arrived in Arafat at approximately 5:00 a.m. local time.
Authorities stated that extensive arrangements had been made by the Maldivian Hajj Mission and the Maldives Hajj Corporation to facilitate services for Maldivian pilgrims during the stay in Arafat, adding that all pilgrims were currently in good health.
The Day of Arafah is regarded as the most significant day of the Hajj pilgrimage, during which pilgrims remain in Arafat in prayer and worship until sunset. The most important period of the day extends from after Dhuhr prayer until sunset.
According to the Hajj Mission, Sheikh Ilyas Hussain, serving as the chief religious scholar for this year’s Maldivian Hajj delegation, is scheduled to deliver the Dhivehi sermon for pilgrims in Arafat.
Following the completion of rites in Arafat, pilgrims will proceed to Muzdalifah after sunset before continuing to Mina.
