President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed Republic Day greetings to Nepal, reaffirming the Maldives’ appreciation for the longstanding friendship between the two SAARC nations.

In congratulatory messages sent on the occasion of Nepal’s Republic Day, the President extended greetings to Nepalese President Ram Chandra Paudel, Prime Minister Balendra Shah, and the people of Nepal.

President Dr Muizzu described Republic Day as a historic occasion reflecting the efforts of the Nepalese people in building and developing the country. He also highlighted Nepal’s rich culture, traditions and national identity.

The President stated that the Maldives highly values its friendly relations with Nepal and remains committed to strengthening cooperation for the benefit of both countries.

He further expressed hope that ties between the Maldives and Nepal would continue to expand in areas of mutual interest in the future.

A significant number of Nepalese nationals are employed in the Maldives. Nepal is also a popular destination for Maldivian students pursuing higher education in medicine, while the country has played an important role in supporting the specialisation of Maldivian doctors.
