MindCo has set a target to make 70 per cent of Government services available through the OneGov platform by the end of this year.

Speaking on the Trade Desk podcast, produced by the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade, MindCo Managing Director Saeeda Umar said the company is currently developing and maintaining two major digital platforms.

She said one of them is TradeNet, the Maldives’ National Single Window platform, which is designed to centralise border trade services. The platform allows importers bringing goods into the Maldives by sea or air to access required services through a single system.

Saeeda said MindCo is also developing OneGov, a platform aimed at bringing services provided by Government agencies under one portal.

She said more than 400 services from 23 Government agencies are currently available through OneGov, with work underway to expand the platform further.

“Our biggest target for this year is to bring close to 70 per cent of Government services provided by various agencies onto the platform. We are also working to make 40 per cent of services provided by councils accessible through the platform,” she said.

Saeeda said efforts are also being made to improve access to the platform for different groups of people. She noted that many services currently available only in English will be made available in Dhivehi this year.

She identified the shortage of skilled technical professionals as one of the main challenges facing the development of digital services in the Maldives.

To address the issue, Saeeda said MindCo has established the Future Institute, a specialised institution to train technical professionals. She said competency frameworks and course structures have already been developed, and that courses are expected to begin soon.
