Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef held a meeting with Wang Yong, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on Monday.

The leaders discussed enhancing collaboration across several domains, particularly in blue economy sectors such as ocean and environmental protection, and climate action. They also covered tourism, education, infrastructure and diplomatic exchanges.

Both sides expressed their dedication to building stronger bilateral relations between Maldives and China.

The meeting took place during the Vice President's official visit to China to attend the 'Third China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Blue Economy Development Cooperation'. Luo Zhaohui, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), and Liu Xiaokai, Chairman of the CPPCC Yunnan Provincial Committee were also present.
