The President's Office has reopened the application process for two vacant posts in the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
This decision follows the nullification of a prior notification issued on December 8, 2024, inviting applications for these positions.
Eligible candidates are invited to submit their applications by December 31, 2024, during working hours from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., excluding official holidays. The President’s Office has streamlined the application process by making forms available at its reception for collection. Alternatively, applicants can download the forms directly from their official website.
The need for new appointments arises after ACC Vice-President Abdul Salaam and member Toha Mohamed resigned following allegations of misconduct. Their resignations came after the Parliament committee on independent institutions moved to expel them over claims of interference and corruption.
In line with recent amendments to the Anti-Corruption Commission, the process for appointing the president and vice-president of the commission has been updated, granting the President the authority to make these appointments directly. These appointments will require approval by the People’s Majlis, with a majority vote of members present and voting during a parliamentary session.
These changes aim to reinforce the accountability and integrity of the commission amidst efforts to bolster anti-corruption measures in the Maldives.
