Construction of a new police station in Vikaradhoo has begun as part of efforts to strengthen policing services across the country.
The groundbreaking ceremony was officiated by Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed and attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police Farhad Fikry, members of the Vikaradhoo Council, heads of State institutions, senior officers of the Maldives Police Service and representatives of the contractor undertaking the project.
According to police, the new station is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen policing services in Vikaradhoo and improve access to essential services for island residents.
Once completed, the facility will provide the infrastructure required to enhance service delivery, support community policing initiatives and contribute to maintaining peace and security on the island.
The project forms part of efforts to expand and strengthen police services across the Maldives.
A police post was first established in Vikaradhoo in May 2022. The new police station is expected to further improve the capacity and quality of policing services in the island community.
