President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the new Arabiyya School building is expected to be completed and operational from the next academic year.
Speaking at a ruling People's National Congress (PNC) gathering in Meedhoo, the President said the Government was committed to strengthening Islamic education and ensuring the country's continued development. He said the Administration places priority on religious affairs while pursuing policies aimed at maintaining stability, development and national security.
Referring to the Arabiyya School, President Dr Muizzu said previous administrations had failed to provide a permanent solution for the institution. He noted that the current Government had allocated a permanent plot of land for the school and was expediting construction with the goal of commencing classes next year.
The President stated that the new school building will include 42 classrooms, a multipurpose hall, four elevators and other facilities required to support modern educational needs.
During his address, President Dr Muizzu also criticised the policies of previous governments and highlighted efforts by the current Administration to strengthen public institutions. He said initiatives were underway to improve police services and enhance the capacity of the security forces.
The President further stated that the Government had intensified efforts to address issues related to undocumented expatriate workers, noting that many foreigners found to be working illegally in the Maldives had been deported over the past two years.
He said the Administration remained focused on resolving long-standing challenges and delivering progress and prosperity to the country, adding that the public would ultimately judge which policies best serve national interests.
