Court orders five-day remand for men accused of threatening staff and property damage

The Criminal Court has ordered a five-day remand for two men arrested in connection with an incident at Let’s Coffee Maldives on Haveeree Hingun, where staff were threatened with a sharp weapon and property was damaged.

The suspects, identified as 44-year-old Asadullah Hathim from B. Thulhadhoo and 31-year-old Ahmed Thaufeeq from GDh. Dhehvadhoo, were arrested under a court order on December 16, 2024. 

Both men were presented at a remand hearing, where the court ordered them to remain in custody for five days.

The incident occurred on December 12, 2024, when the suspects reportedly entered Let’s Coffee Maldives, threatening staff and causing damage to the premises.

Police have confirmed that investigations into the case are ongoing.
