Deputy Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Hassan Waheed has credited President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's leadership for preventing a Sri Lanka-like economic crisis in the Maldives, whilst criticising the previous administration's fiscal management.

Speaking on MMTV's Bodu Khabaru programme, Deputy Minister Waheed claimed that despite substantial foreign aid during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's tenure, the public received no tangible benefits.

The Deputy Minister emphasised that President Dr Muizzu inherited a government in shambles but is now implementing measures to stabilise the situation through his sound vision.

He acknowledged that whilst the current Administration's service delivery may not meet desired standards, this was attributed to the previous government's negative actions.

The Deputy Minister likened the current Administration's efforts to "trying to lift up and stabilise something that has fallen,” citing significant negligence by the previous government. He praised the President’s leadership, along with the collaborative efforts of Ministers and officials, attributing the country's improving circumstances to their work and the grace of Allah.
