Emirates has resumed its scheduled passenger flights to the Maldives after a four-month suspension, restoring one of the country's key international air links.
The airline had temporarily suspended operations to the Maldives due to disruptions caused by regional unrest in the Middle East and the resulting airspace restrictions.
The resumed service includes the daily Dubai–Malé flight EK652, which continues onward to Colombo, while the return flight EK653 operates from Colombo to Malé before returning to Dubai. The route is served using Boeing 777 aircraft.
Emirates is one of the largest international carriers serving the Maldives, and the resumption of its operations is expected to improve connectivity with the Middle East, Europe, and North America while supporting the country's tourism industry.
The suspension followed widespread airspace closures across the Middle East, which resulted in significant disruptions to regional air travel and the cancellation of thousands of flights. The return of Emirates' services is also expected to strengthen tourism and trade links between the Maldives and the United Arab Emirates.
